Winter Workouts are designed to help athletes use the offseason to become stronger, faster, more explosive, and better prepared for the spring season. The program is open to players of all ages and experience levels — you do not need to be a current USA Prime player to participate.
Each workout is 2 hours and 15 minutes and consists of three 45-minute training stations:
Lower Body — Strength, Speed & Explosiveness
Athletes will work on lower-body strength, acceleration, agility, coordination, change of direction, and explosive movement. Training will focus on developing better overall athleticism and helping players move faster and more efficiently on the field.
Upper Body — Strength, Arm Development & Velocity
This station focuses on core and upper-body strength, arm strength, shoulder stability, connective-tissue support, and baseball-specific movement patterns. Players will also incorporate progressive velocity training designed to build stronger, healthier, more powerful throwing mechanics.
Fielding & Footwork Fundamentals
Players will develop the footwork, body positioning, glove work, quickness, and movement patterns needed to become more confident and efficient defenders. The emphasis will be on quality repetitions and building fundamentals that translate directly to game situations.
Players will complete before-and-after measurements to establish a starting point and track their progress throughout the winter.
The program begins in November and runs through the end of January, giving players an opportunity to put meaningful work in during the offseason and arrive at spring practices stronger, faster, and ready to compete.
Put in the work this winter. See the difference this spring.
The offseason is where players build the strength, power and durability they need for the season ahead.
USA Prime Peninsula’s Winter Weight Training Program is designed specifically for baseball players 12U and older, with an emphasis on developing functional strength, explosiveness, mobility, stability and overall athletic performance.
Training is led by Coach Whaylan Price and USA Prime Peninsula training staff at Up The Middle in Belmont.
Players will work on strength, power, mobility, stability, core development and movements that translate directly to baseball performance. The goal isn't simply to lift more weight—it's to develop stronger, more explosive and more durable baseball players.
Three months of consistent offseason training can make a major difference when players return to the field. This program gives athletes the opportunity to put in meaningful work throughout the winter and enter the spring season physically prepared to perform.
Be the strongest player showing up to the spring season.
USA Prime Fall & Winter Baseball Camps are designed to keep players active, developing, and having fun during school breaks and days off. Players can register for individual school-holiday camps or join us for our multi-day Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s camps.

About USA Prime Peninsula
USA Prime Peninsula is a professionally coached youth baseball and softball academy serving athletes throughout San Mateo County and the greater Bay Area Peninsula. Our program provides players with high-level instruction, structured development, and a competitive environment designed to prepare athletes for continued success in the game.
Our players are consistently trained and coached by paid professional coaches — not parent or volunteer coaches. This creates a consistent developmental philosophy throughout our program and allows coaching decisions to remain focused on what is best for each player's growth and the team.
At USA Prime Peninsula, we believe in developing the complete athlete. Winning and competing are important, but player development remains our primary objective. Our curriculum takes a fundamentals-first, future-focused approach that combines baseball and softball skills, athletic development, strength and movement, game awareness, and mental-performance training. We want players to develop the tools necessary to compete today while preparing them for the increasingly demanding levels of the game ahead.
Development also extends beyond what happens between the lines. As players are challenged to push beyond their current abilities, they learn how to respond to success, failure, adversity, competition, and responsibility.
Sportsmanship, leadership, accountability, integrity, respect, work ethic, mental toughness, healthy habits, and self-confidence are all important parts of our program. Our goal is to help young athletes become better baseball and softball players while developing qualities that will serve them well far beyond the game.
We are committed to meeting players where they are today, challenging them to continually improve, and giving them the coaching, environment, and opportunities to discover how far they can take their game.

Professional Coaching Staff
The USA Prime Peninsula coaching staff is made up of knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate baseball professionals who are committed to teaching the game and developing young athletes.
We carefully select coaches who bring both a strong understanding of baseball and the ability to teach, communicate, and connect with players at different ages and stages of development. Our staff includes local college and high school coaches, as well as current and former professional and collegiate players.
More than simply having playing experience, we look for coaches who can translate their knowledge of the game into meaningful instruction. Our goal is to provide every player with consistent, high-quality coaching that develops fundamentals, baseball IQ, confidence, and the skills necessary to continue progressing to higher levels of competition.
With paid professional coaches throughout our program, players benefit from an environment where coaching and development — not parent involvement or individual agendas — remain the focus.

Year-Round Training & Competition
USA Prime Peninsula operates year-round with four distinct seasons designed to give players the right balance of development, training, and competition throughout the year. Our primary tournament seasons are Spring, Summer, and Fall, with Winter dedicated to focused offseason development.
Winter Training | November – January
Winter is our primary development season. Instead of a traditional tournament schedule, players focus on specialized offseason training designed to build stronger, faster, and more athletic baseball players.
Winter Workouts are separated by age group and feature 2-hour and 15-minute sessions focused on speed, strength, conditioning, agility, explosive movement, arm strength, velocity development, fielding fundamentals, and defensive footwork. Weekly hitting classes are also available for players of all ages throughout the Winter and Spring.
Spring Season | February – April
Our Spring schedule is intentionally modified to allow younger players to continue participating in local recreational leagues, including Little League, while maintaining the professional training and competitive travel-ball environment that prepares them for Summer.
Teams generally practice on Sundays with one additional weekday practice and compete in approximately one tournament per month. Additional training opportunities and classes continue throughout the Spring.
This structure gives players the opportunity to participate in their local baseball communities without stepping away from their long-term development with USA Prime Peninsula.
Summer Season | May – July
Summer is one of our primary competitive seasons. With recreational baseball winding down, training and tournament play increase significantly.
Teams typically practice three times per week and compete in four to five tournaments throughout the season. The increased workload allows our coaching staff to spend more time on individual development, team concepts, situational baseball, and competitive preparation.
Fall Season | August – October
Fall is another full training and tournament season and one of the most important development periods of the year. Teams practice three times per week and typically compete in four to five tournaments.
With consistent practices and competitive weekends, Fall provides players with significant opportunities to develop their skills, baseball IQ, athleticism, and confidence before transitioning into our Winter development program.
Our year-round structure is intentional. Each season serves a different purpose, allowing players to compete, develop, recover, and train at the appropriate times while continuing to build toward long-term success.

Private Lessons & Group Training
USA Prime Peninsula offers private lessons and small-group training opportunities for youth baseball players looking for additional development outside of regular team practices.
Private Lessons
One-on-one instruction gives players the opportunity to receive individualized coaching focused specifically on their needs and goals. Private lessons allow our coaches to identify areas for improvement, make detailed mechanical adjustments, and provide the focused repetitions that can be difficult to achieve in a larger team environment.
Lessons are available with Coach Drew and other members of the USA Prime Peninsula professional coaching staff and can focus on hitting, fielding, throwing, pitching, catching, or overall skill development.
Group Classes
Our group training classes provide focused instruction in a competitive, high-energy environment while maintaining a low player-to-coach ratio. Classes are open to players throughout the community and are not limited to current USA Prime Peninsula players.
Our weekly hitting classes are among our most popular training programs and frequently reach capacity. Hitting classes typically run from December through May, providing players with consistent instruction and quality repetitions throughout the Winter and Spring seasons.
Private lessons and group classes are a great way for players to supplement team training, address specific areas of their game, and continue developing throughout the year.
Our fans are a real part of our team. Send us a message to cheer us on, or ask us a question about our training. We look forward to hearing from you, and we will get back to you soon.
